TCH Sheffield

The Crowded House Sheffield is a gospel church with a network of communities scattered across the city.

Our vision is to develop and deploy disciples who, in their shared life, proclaim the gospel where Christ is neither named nor known, locally and to the ends of the earth.

All members of our church are part of Ministry Teams. These are small communities of believers who seek to reach particular neighbourhoods or people groups in our city with the gospel in the context of everyday life. These teams are the primary context for bible teaching, discipleship, shared life and mission. They are also the primary context where we hope to reach those who neither name nor know Christ. Our conviction is that as the unreached encounter the shared life of the Christian community, they will see and experience the most powerful demonstration and explanation of the gospel.

While the heart of our church life is in Ministry Teams, it's still important to us that we gather as a church. Our weekly gatherings at 215 Sharrow Vale Road are on Sundays at 11am, with refreshments from 10:30am.

At our Gathering, we sing God’s praises and hear him speak through the Bible. You can expect a warm welcome, contemporary music and an engaging talk. Whether you want to join in or just observe, you’re very welcome. A creche is available during the Gathering, as well as a programme for pre-school and primary-aged children.

Everyone is welcome, whether you’re familiar with church or just want to explore the Christian faith.

If you'd like to know more, please get in touch or visit us at a Gathering.

On Sundays we meet at 215 Sharrow Vale Road. Come on up the steps, we serve refreshments before our gathering.
Just look out for The Crowded House sign.

Our internship offers a unique opportunity to develop your character and skills

The Crowded House internship is a year long programme that offers a unique opportunity in which both your character and skills will be developed. Our aim is to provide a significant experience of gospel ministry that will prepare you for a lifetime serving Jesus among his people in the world.

Who is it for?

The internship will most benefit those that seek to;

  • Grow in personal development and discipleship
  • Improve personal skills
  • Enlarge personal vision

Please note that the internship is only available to those 21 years old and above.

What will it involve?

You will be placed with The Crowded House Sheffield in one of our Ministry Teams. This will shape some of the details of what your internship will look like, however our internship programme involves three elements:

 You will have responsibilities to support the practical running of the local church in which you will be based. These responsibilities include a number of unnoticed, behind-the-scenes tasks. They include:

For example;

  • practical service of the local church gatherings
  • cleaning and setting-up for regular and one-off events
  • assisting and supporting the Staff Elders and other Church Staff

 This aspect of the programme is intended to develop skills that you have identified. Our ability to provide bespoke opportunities will depend on the context you have chosen, however we have experience in the following:

  • Administration
  • Media & Communications
  • Music & Gathered Worship
  • Outreach
  • Families ministry
  • Estates ministry
  • Student ministry

Our approach to discipleship is that it is done in the everyday, within the context of community, and involves intentionally applying the gospel to our hearts as and when issues arise. You can expect to develop your understanding of the gospel as much during the informal moments of the internship as during the more structured times. Additionally, the following training opportunities are available:

  • applied theological study (i.e. Crosslands: Foundation – 9 modules)
  • bible-handling training (i.e. Preachers Workshop & bible handling)
  • internship projects (i.e. reflective tasks set in response to issues that emerge)
